The third mainland Bridge is the longest amongst the three. It was named the third mainland Bridge because it is the third of the 3bridges connecting Lagos island and mainland.
Foundation piles had varying depths of between 36 and 54 meters and pile diameter is based on potential carrying road, diameters of 1500mm are used for the main bridge crossing the Lagos lagoon and for the slipway and approach roads, pile diameter was between 800mm and 1200mm.
This Bridge is the main course for lagosians to get to lagos island, nor dat there isn't other connecting bridges but the one in particular is widely use by all lagosian, Nigerians .
Other Bridge connecting to lagos island are as follows:
The three major bridges are the Eko bridge, Lekki Ikoyi and the Carter bridge. The bridge is referred to as Third Mainland Bridge because it is the third of the three bridges that connect Lagos Island with the Mainland.
Carter bridge
EKO BRIDGE
The Federal government has not declared anything yet about open the bridge on weekends to be precisely on sat , and closing on Sunday.
So alot of distress arise when alot of transporters figured out the bridge was open this Saturday 25 November 2023, and was close on Sunday 26 November, 2023. Is this really true has the federal government silently given orders for open of the third mainland Bridge on weekends
Or are they trying to use this Bridge for their own personal use cause they can't bear traffic 🤔
From my own view;
